  • Password and Access Issues:

    Q. I can't see the Bulk Password Tool to set up the accounts on my kit.

    A. You must be logged in with the KitA accounts to see and use the Bulk Password tool.

    Q. I changed my password but still can't log in!

    A. Make sure your password meets the length and complexity requirements. It must be at least 8 characters and have at least 3 of the 4 following character types: upper case, lower case, number, special.

    Q. I can't log in and I know I'm using the correct password!

    A. Domain accounts will be locked after 3 failed attempts. Open a ticket to have your account re-enabled.

    Q. I can't find the login credentials for vatc.

    A. This page on the Communities has the current passwords for vatc.vmeduc.com: Communities Website Passwords Area

    Q. What password should my students use to log into their vApp?

    A. The account and password varies for each class. Please review the Lab Guide for your specific class. Early classes consistently used Administrator/vmware1! but this has evolved over time to meet password complexity requirements of the products.

    Q. An instructor or student login is refused by vCD but they can log into the TS desktop.

    A. This behavior is usually seen when your student mistypes the name of the Organization in the URL when connecting to vCD. vCD returns an authentication error if the URL is incorrect. The vCD URL for your class is included in the email with your kit credentials each week and you may want to copy/paste it for your students.

Common problems when preparing to teach a class:

    Q. I got the email with the instructor password, but what about access for my students?

    A. You must use the Bulk Password Tool to set up your student accounts before the class begins. Please review the "Using the VDC Guide" located at:http://www.vdcaccess.com.

    Q. I can't find the latest instructor setup guide for my class.

    A. Refer to the documents section for the course in the Trainer's community at http://www.vmtrainer.com). This will help ensure that you use the correct slides, and the latest Instructor Setup Guides, static handouts, and other courseware files, where applicable.

    Q. I haven't received the credentials for the prep server I requested.

    A. vApps deployed for instructor prep (aka 'prep servers') are available from Mon thru Fri. They are sometimes released earlier in the weekend but please don't open a ticket about a missing prep server until 9am Pacific time on Monday.

    Q. I only received half the vApps required for my class!

    A. Many classes are designed for students to share a vApp. Please refer to your release notice if you aren't sure about the class you are teaching this week. After your name and before the kit credentials, you'll see a line of text something like the following: "A total of 6 'vSphere 6.0 What's New' vApps have been deployed for your class of 12 students scheduled to begin 3/21/16 9:00 AM". If your class uses one vApp per Student it will indicate the same number of vApps as students.

    Common problems during the labs:

    Q. There is no LabFiles folder on the student desktop and the Lab Guide says it should be there.

    A. In most cases this occurs because the student has logged in with the incorrect account. Either they logged in with the local Administrator password when the class calls for using the domain password, or the opposite. Please verify that the student is using the correct account as indicated in their Lab Guide before opening a ticket about this..
